Animal Rescue League of Iowa, Inc.
The Animal Rescue League of Iowa is central Iowa's largest animal shelter that never turns away an animal in need. The Animal Rescue League of Iowa's mission is to promote animal welfare, encourage and strengthen the human/animal bond and prevent the overpopulation of pets. Interactive and Educational Activity: Make cat, rabbit, and dog masks and animal origami.

Des Moines Human Rights Commission
Chartered in 1954, the Des Moines Human Rights Commission is an impartial investigative agency that investigates and resolves complaints of illegal discrimination that violate the Human Rights Ordinance. The agency’s overall goal is to create fair and non-discriminatory opportunities for all Iowans. Interactive and Educational Activity: Learn more about fair housing by participating in a fair housing quiz, take part in a mural puzzle which will depict how the community views fair housing and make origami houses.

Everybody Wins! Iowa
Everybody Wins! Iowa is youth literacy and mentoring program that works to increase children’s success in school through reading and mentoring experiences with caring volunteers. Currently, they are serving nearly 400 students at eleven central Iowa schools, ten of which are in the Des Moines metro area. Interactive and Educational Activity: Reading rules at this tent, so visitors can take part in hourly story times, as well as complete various types of word searches for the chance to win a free book!

Geek the Library Campaign/PLDM
Geek the Library is a community-based public awareness campaign designed to highlight the vital role of public libraries for individuals and communities, and to raise awareness about the critical funding issues they face. Interactive and Educational Activity: Let the library know what you geek by signing the “Geek Wall,” make jewelry out of fruit loops and yarn, and ink stamp bookmarks to take home.

Iowa Dialog Center
Founded in 2005 by Turkish-Americans, the Iowa Dialog Center’s main goal is promoting love, understanding, and mutual appreciation among the diverse cultures living in Iowa by means of as many different activities as possible. Interactive and Educational Activity: Learn more about and participate in the traditional Turkish art of Ebru (water marbling).

Medicine for Mali
The primary mission of Medicine for Mali is to furnish medical care and medicines for people in Mali, West Africa. This is accomplished by medical mission work including free medicine, medical care, and various projects including clean water and educational initiatives. Interactive and Educational Activity: Create Batik Prints in traditional Western African style using cotton cloth squares, wooden stamps and dyes.

Salsa Des Moines
Salsa Des Moines is a non-profit organization that aims to teach the art of salsa dance and foster awareness of and interest for all forms of Latin street dance within the Greater Des Moines and Ames communities. Interactive and Educational Activity: Latin dance lessons including salsa, cha cha, merengue, salsa rueda, bachata and street dance party. To participate in the fun stop by the booth and check the dance schedule!

White Eagle 7th Generation Multi-Cultural Powwow
The White Eagle 7th Generation Multi-Cultural Powwow will bring all cultures together to perform in their circle in the hopes of bringing better understanding of the different races. Interactive and Educational Activity: See drummers, story tellers and singers in a large teepee on-site.

The World Food Prize Foundation
The World Food Prize Foundation awards the $250,000 World Food Prize - the Nobel Prize for Food and Agriculture - each year to recognize individual breakthrough achievements that have increased the quality, quantity, and availability of food in the world. Interactive and Educational Activity: Participate in a food-aid project by filling up bags of rice/soy/nutrients and packaging them. These meals will be sent to Haiti, Tanzania, Argentina and other locations. Also, visit the Meals from the Heartland mobile learning lab to learn more about how to fight hunger in Iowa and beyond!
